Gymnastics
Gymnastics for grades 0–11: flexibility, strength, coordination and a healthy back without overload.
Gymnastics for children: flexibility, strength and a healthy back
Gymnastics is the foundation for any other sport and, more importantly, for a child's health. Today's schoolchildren spend many hours at a desk and in front of a screen, and gymnastics gently and systematically compensates for that: it strengthens the core, releases tension and restores mobility to the spine and joints.
At Profi School gymnastics is a health-oriented programme, not elite sport. We do not chase difficult elements or records. Our goal is for children to grow up flexible, strong and unafraid of physical effort.
What the programme covers
A class is built around four blocks that alternate from lesson to lesson.
- General conditioning: bodyweight work for the abs, back, arms and legs.
- Stretching and joint mobility: splits, bridge, forward folds — always through a gradual, safe increase in range.
- Acrobatics: rolls, handstands, cartwheels — on mats and with the coach spotting.
- Coordination and balance: balance drills, skipping rope, ball and ribbon work.
How a class runs
Everything starts with a warm-up: joint mobility from head to toe, light cardio and muscle activation. Then the main block — strength or acrobatics depending on the day — followed by stretching and a cool-down. Every lesson includes posture work and exercises for the back muscles.
The coach works with a small group and sees everyone's technique. Any new element is first broken down into parts, with lead-up drills and spotting — only then does the child perform it independently.
Safety and workload
The first question parents ask is whether stretching can be harmful. The honest answer: it is not stretching that harms, but incorrect stretching. We never push a child, never stretch through pain and never force the splits by a particular date. Range increases gradually, according to how the child feels, and always after a full warm-up.
Acrobatic elements are performed on mats, with spotting and in order of increasing difficulty. Children with medical restrictions follow an adapted programme — simply let the coach know.
What gymnastics gives
The most visible effect is posture. After a few months of regular classes a child holds their back straighter, slouches less and complains less about a tired back and neck. The second effect is body control: the child senses their position in space more precisely, falls less often and picks up any other sport more easily, be it swimming, football or dance.
There is also character. Gymnastics is daily work against small resistance. Children learn patience, get used to results that do not come instantly, and take pride in their own progress.
Why gymnastics at Profi School
Classes take place in the school gym right after lessons, so no time is lost to travel and the evening stays free. The club is included in the tuition fee — there is nothing extra to pay.
Groups are formed by age, and within a group the coach offers different levels of difficulty so that both a beginner and a more prepared child work at their own pace. All you need is comfortable sportswear, soft shoes or socks and water.
Book a free trial class — see the gym, meet the coach and decide at your own pace.
