A dance school for children: how choreography classes work

Choreography at Profi School is not only about beautiful movement — it is systematic work on a child's body, attention and character. Classes develop flexibility, coordination and stamina, and build correct posture and gait. Dance teaches children to hear music, feel rhythm and control their body consciously. Even if a child has never danced before, our teachers start from the very basics and take them all the way to a confident stage performance.

Classes take place in a spacious studio with mirrors and a barre, in small groups formed by age and level. That way the teacher sees every child and corrects technique in time.

What children learn in choreography

The programme moves from simple to complex and covers several directions, so that a child can try different styles and find their own.

  • Classical choreography: placement of the body, arms and legs, barre exercises, the basics of ballet technique.
  • Folk and national dance: Uzbek dance traditions, characteristic movement and hand plasticity.
  • Contemporary styles: modern, contemporary, children's hip-hop and stage dance.
  • Floor gymnastics and stretching: safe flexibility work and strengthening of the back muscles.
  • Acting in dance: facial expression, character, working with music and stage space.

How a class runs

Every lesson follows one clear structure. First a warm-up for the joints, then stamina and stretching exercises, then learning new movement and working on the routine. The class always ends with a cool-down and a short review: what worked, what we work on next.

Teachers never compare children with each other. We measure progress against the child's own result a month ago — that is what creates motivation, rather than fear of mistakes.

Performances and concerts

Dance makes sense on stage. Through the year students prepare numbers for school concerts, New Year, Navruz, the first day of school and graduation. Children perform in front of parents and classmates and take part in city festivals and children's art competitions.

The stage is the best training ground for confidence. A child who has learned to face an audience and hold its attention answers more calmly at the blackboard, makes friends more easily and defends their projects with confidence.

What choreography gives a child

Parents usually notice three changes. First, posture: the child stops slouching at the desk and at the computer. Second, energy: regular physical activity releases tension after lessons and improves sleep. Third, character: working in a group teaches discipline, responsibility towards partners and the habit of finishing what you started.

Attention deserves a separate mention. Learning sequences requires concentration and movement memory — a skill that transfers directly to schoolwork.

Why choreography at Profi School

All clubs are already included in the tuition fee — there is nothing extra to pay for classes, the studio or rehearsals. Choreography is part of the school timetable, right after lessons, so you do not need to drive your child across the city or plan the whole family evening around a class.

Our teachers are practising choreographers experienced with children, who explain technique in plain language and keep the group engaged. We keep the workload safe: stretching is done strictly by the rules, without forcing and without high-risk elements.

Book a free trial class — your child gets to try it, and you get to see how a lesson runs and whether the style suits them.

?
From what age can a child join choreography?
We accept children from grade 1. Groups are formed by age, so the workload and the way material is taught always match the child's abilities.
?
Is any preparation or flexibility required to start?
No. Most children start from scratch. Flexibility develops gradually, and every class includes a safe stretching block.
?
What should we bring to the first class?
Comfortable sportswear, ballet slippers or soft shoes, and water. Costumes for performances are provided by the school.
?
How often are the classes?
Usually twice a week after lessons, with extra rehearsals before concerts. Check the exact timetable with the administrator.
?
Is there an extra fee for the club?
No. Choreography, like all other Profi School clubs, is already included in the tuition fee.
